At the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala, Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy, there was only one dress that looked great and incorporated the theme. In my opinion that was Christina Ricci in a pink and red Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci Haute Couture Gown.

As a runner up Naomi Watts in Thierry Mugler.

Zac Posen’s suit did a good job of illustrating the Superhero and Fashion look for Men.

There were many gorgeous dresses but these stars were the ones who epitomized the Superhero and Fashion combination.

I loved the Dolce & Gabbana painted organza gown Rose McGowan wore at the amFar event the other night.

I love the Clothing and Accessories as a canvas. I’ve always thought of Clothing as Art but this is taking it to a new level by mixing what people consider “real” art with Fashion to create Fashion². It reminded me of the Prada line for Spring/Summer 2008 that mixed Art with Prada’s usual beautiful clothes. Below are some of my favorite items from that line.

Gladiator sandals are everywhere these days. On Celebrities, in the Fashion Mags and even in Blogs To be honest I really haven’t liked this type of shoe. I thought it cut a woman’s leg off, disturbing the line from her shin to her foot. For those of us 5′4″ and under, that could make us look even shorter. I also didn’t like all the straps over the foot. I thought it looked too busy and distracting. Take for example Sarah Jessica Parker’s feet in the promo picture from the Wedding scene in the “Sex and the City” movie coming out at the end of May 2008.

I just hate those shoes with the Wedding Dress!! I like funky and unusual. And as some of you might know, I have a deep love and respect for Particia Fields (If you don’t know, you can read about it here). But these shoes with this dress DO NOT work for me :-& .

Having said all those negative things about Gladiator shoes, I came upon a few yesterday on Piperlime.com that I really like. They aren’t too strappy across the top of the foot and I think they cut the disturbance of your leg line to a minimum.

I found this blog post which I think is interesting. The post is called “Is Internet Shopping Harmful?”

I personally think it isn’t harmful but then I’m in the group of people that call Shopping “Retail Therapy” to coat in an air of self-help rather than admit to the addiction it may really be :/ . So is it a waste of time….probably but so are many things (TV, Video Games….ect). The above blog writer is correct when she says “at the end of it [Internet window shopping]; all you’re left with is an empty closet!”

How do you feel about Internet Window Shopping?

Also what do you think is a good term for Internet Window Shopping? It seems long and could use a better name. I’ve read “Screen Shopping” which is good name for it. I thought WISH might be a good name for it. WISH standing for Window Internet Shopping Habit and also the Wishing you get to own the products you see as you surf. But maybe you guys can come up with something better. Lemme know your ideas.

As I was wandering the great streets of NYC the other day, I came upon a store that was selling jewelry at unbelievable prices. Granted some of these pieces may not look that expensive but I think others look like they cost more than what I paid for them. Fashion victims are everywhere. While I was in the Caribbean I encountered a few. Now my fellow Caribbeaners love color so I’m not talking about that because I love color and Spring/Summer 08 is about Bold Color. And I’m not talking about cheap clothing versus expensive clothing because you all know how I love a bargain ;).

It was Carnival in St Maarten when I was down there so there was lots of costumes and bands. Carnival is a time to let loose and express yourself but not to lose your sense of style completely!! And I feel that some of these women didn’t just lose it, they may never have had it. Some ladies just need some Fashion help. I mean REAL help. Like the lady who had on black lace leggings with white short shorts over them topped with a white t-shirt imprinted with black block letter words. My friend who saw the women was as aghast at her outfit as I was and thought she needed my help with fashion. But I mean SERIOUSLY people does the outfit I described above sound like the person needs Fashion advice OR should they have just known that the outfit was a Glamour Don’t!! I think it is the latter but hey maybe that is just me.

I didn’t get a picture of the outfit above but I did catch some other ladies in need of the Glamour Don’t black bar.

This woman looked like The Abominable snowman in 90 degree heat…..Fishnets and snowboots do NOT go together WOMAN!! I really thought this was a given

To this woman I wanted to say, if your belly is a little bigger than you would like it to be…..Either get some Spanxs or wear a LOOSER dress.

And in conjunction with that, if you have some cottage cheese hanging around your thighs and butt like I do, DO NOT wear tight WHITE bottoms. They just do not look good.

And lastly we have this nice lady sporting a hair trend I never really got….The curler look….:/

Now if you are putting curlers in your hair so your hair will look nice when you get OUT….Why do you still have them in when you do go OUT!! Is there some other reason you have for wearing the curlers that I don’t know about? Are woman wearing them out because they want to have nice curly hair when they go INSIDE the house? If anyone can enlighten me as to why women do this I would really apprciate it.

And as usual I appreciate all your comments on my review. Do you agree or disagree with my thoughts on these ladies? Have you spotted some fashion victims of your own that you would like to share with me?
