Purple & Ombre – Two more trends that go well together

If you flip though any fashion magazine these days they will tell you Purple is the IT color for Fall 08. I’m on board with that. I love a deep jewel tone to balance out the sometimes dreary weather and just as dreary colored clothes that appear in Fall.

Imagine my surprise as I was surfing Targaayy (Target for you regualr folks…LOL) when I came upon some cool (and cheap) Purple items. Many of them included two other trends you know I love patent and Ombre. So I figured I would share them with you because I love to help people look stylish and if it can be done cheaply all the better ;).

Purple & Ombre

Xhilaration® Ombre Satchel – Purple (Small $16.99

Xhilaration® Ombre Tote Bag – Purple $19.99

Women’s Mossimo® Deann Ombre Patent Flats – Purple $13.99

Jasmine Small Bag – Deep Purple $16.99

Richard Chai for Target® Colorblock Tie Dress – Passion Purple $44.99

Richard Chai For Target® Printed Broken-Stripe Trench Coat – Purple/ Ebony $44.99

Loving a bargain myself I ordered the Ombre Satchel and the Jasmine Small Bag.

Ombre & Patent Leather – Two Trends that go well together

I’ve noticed for awhile that Ombre has become a trend this year. I really like this trend. I think I really became aware of it and how much I liked it when I saw Gwen Stefani’s wedding dress by John Galliano for Dior back in 2002.

Before I left for vacation I bookmarked several Ombre items I found that I liked but I’ll post some of those another time. This post is about some items I recently found that incorporate the Ombre trend with another popular trend I like Patent Leather.

Bloomingdales

Bloomingdales showed an Ombre and Patent Leather bag by Maxx in their recent catalog.

Maxx New York Women’s Degradé Ombre Large Tote Bag – $198
Comes in Purple as well.

Also at Bloomingdale’s was this bag by L.A.M.B (seems Gwen likes the Ombre trend in things other than Wedding Dresses)

L.A.M.B. Manchester Ombre Patent Leather Tote – $495

The above bags can be yours with a 20% discount by using the code FLOWER now thru May 21st at Bloomingdales.com.

But Bloomingdales is not the only place offering items combining these two trends. Some of my other favorite shopping sites have some cool Patent and Ombre items. Enjoy!

Target’s designers Jovovich-Hawk need to GO!!

I’ve loved many of the designers and lines Target has gotton for their Go International collection. I think it is a much needed category and it injects much needed items into our Fashion industry. I own a Proenza Schouler Corset tank top, a Patrick Robinson white eyelet dress and two Erin Fetherston jackets. I adore all of the items and constantly get compliments on them. But I gotta say that Target’s latest designers Jovovich-Hawk just doesn’t do it for me.

I’ve tried to like their line for Target but it still has not grown on me. I think that is because their items look cheap and not special to me. Whereas many of the other Go designers for Target’s lines were cheap but didn’t look it and many of them looked very special as though they could have stepped off of the designers high priced label runways. While I liked some of the prints Jovovich-Hawk used, I didn’t like the silhouettes they choose.

Here is an example of an eyelet fabric I loved when Patrick Robinson used it awhile ago but I don’t like the jacket they designed with it. I do think the sleeve design is right on trend but that is it.

Here is an example of some prints that I thought were cute for Spring but I don’t like the dress or the top they used them in:

Here is an example of a fabric and silhouette I don’t like. I think this looks cheap and I wouldn’t think this had a designer behind it. More like I could find this at $10 store. Look at it next to the Proenza Schouler Corset tank top. One looks like a designer item and the other doesn’t:

What do you think?
